Fatima is an infectious singer, songwriter, looping artist, beatboxer and piano player. Her ability to draw you in and move your soul with stories is rivaled only by emotional delivery of her songs. With influences like Alicia Keys and No Doubt, her talent and energetic performances have made her a favorite in the Rochester (New York) music scene.
In her original material, Fatima draws on life experiences of growing up in war torn Bosnia in the midst of deadly conflict with only a few sparks of hope. It is this unwavering hope and love for the world that gives her the strength to be vulnerably comfortable when expressing herself through music that undoubtedly makes listeners feel emotions they didn’t think a stranger could make them feel. Candid storytelling in between songs gives listeners the inside stories about inspirations and reasons why she wrote each song and it is this banter that makes Fatima even more human and relatable to her audience.
Although Fatima has performed with a band in the past, it’s her “one woman show” that makes you wonder whether she has any limits in her talent. She uses a looping pedal to layer sounds through her keyboard, beatboxes, harmonizes and builds a song right in front of her audience. It is this live aspect of song production that makes Fatima’s show so fascinating and well worth seeing.
Fatima will release her first EP Womb in the summer of 2017 with guest appearances by trombonist Wycliff Gordon, trumpeter Herb Smith and production by Jimmie Highsmith Jr and Paul Boutte.
“Beautiful music is even more so when born of an ugly world. Singer-songwriter Fatima Razic has a gorgeous voice: It aches, it evokes, it emotes, and it delivers a truck load of goosebumps. It is the sound of the artist crying out from within.”
